Since 2010, The Reclaimers (formerly known as De Dakdokters Groep) has been active in the construction of green roofs and the development, production, and installation of smart water retention roofs through its subsidiaries De Dakdokters and Metropolder Company.

De Dakdokters is a leading party in the Netherlands in the field of (construction of) green roofs. Metropolder Company has developed an innovative system that makes smart water storage on flat roofs technologically possible. With this technology, the roof is turned into a smart water storage that can be controlled remotely. In this way, all rain that falls on the roof is stored and subsequently drained or utilised at a convenient moment in time.

Synergies between the two subsidiaries are substantial, since the Metropolder Company system functions as the basis of a green roof, roof garden or roof park, which can be constructed by De Dakdokters. The water that is stored can be used for irrigation, infiltration or in a gray water system. The market for green roofs is changing, but water retention is also an increasingly important topic for companies and policymakers in the Netherlands and beyond. Like The Reclaimers, ifund sees rainwater as a raw material and not as waste that must go into the sewer.

In 2017 ifund provided growth financing to The Reclaimers. At the end of 2021, a management buy-out took place in which the management took over all ifund’s shares. Ifund is proud of the growth and impact that has been achieved together with De Dakdokters and Metropolder Company.
