Water

The global stock of clean drinking water is rapidly diminishing due to pollution, salinisation and waste. Not only is food production and the carting of water from one place to another exhausting local water supplies, but huge parts of the world may well dry out more quickly than anticipated due to climate change. At the same time, in our part of the world we are confronted by increasingly heavy rainfall.

Ifund envisages a future in which we live with water and our water footprint is withdrawn to within ecological borders. That means better retention, usage and retrieval of water. Ifund is seeking innovative solutions for sustainable and local water systems, targeting ecological initiatives, small-scale closed cycles, frugal and conscious consumption.

Our eating patterns can make an enormous impact here as well. The water footprint for beef is huge: approximately 1,500 litres of water are required for a hamburger.
