After extensive research into the transportation problems in the city center, Franscesca Miazzo and Jessica Spadacini founded Foodlogica in 2014.
The company offers a sustainable alternative to the last mile of food distribution in dense urban areas. Light electric vehicles such as cargo bikes transport – mostly sustainable and locally produced – food from different hubs to three different customer groups; the customers of caterers, the customers of food producers (catering) and customers of food box suppliers. Electrically assisted cargo bikes can deliver to twice as many customers per hour in dense urban areas than diesel vans that are delayed by traffic and parking problems. The Foodlogica solution is, therefore, not only more environmentally friendly but also economically more efficient. The concept offers exciting possibilities for expansion to other cities at home and abroad. The investment in Food Logica, therefore, fits very well with ifund; the company contributes to both the food and energy transition.
In 2018, ifund was the lead investor in a round of growth financing to Foodlogica together with two informal investors.
